Legal Office Assistant
Union County State’s Attorney Now Hiring a Legal Office Assistant to perform a variety of secretarial and clerical work of a legal nature and assisting attorneys in the preparation of legal documents and the filing and organization of court information.
Job Responsibilities:
Prepare and manage a caseload of predominantly felony cases. Prepare cases for legal proceedings. Prepare and draft correspondence and assist in the filing of legal documents. Answer and direct phone calls. Greet and assist victims of crime and other walk-in traffic. File and route legal documents. Enter information into the computer. Make copies. Request reports, video and records from a variety of Law Enforcement Agencies. Provide defense attorneys with collected reports, video and records. Create, prepare, and maintain files. Gather, sort, organize and prepare files and information for attorney handling. Distribute, log and track files, reports, and case information. Prepare documents for the court. Assist attorneys with document preparation and filing of court information. Assist in the preparation of Felony Jury Trials. Process incoming and outgoing mail. Wage depends on experience but will range $21.00 to $24.00 per hour.
Applicants Should Have:
High school diploma or GED and two years of general secretarial work. A comparable combination of education and experience may be considered. Must be able to work in fast paced environment, have outstanding organizational skills, and strong work ethic.
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Have:
Three or more years of secretarial experience. Strong technical and skills in a variety of word and data processing programs. Experience in a legal environment. Knowledge of legal terminology. Experience with Karpel file system a plus.

JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for supervising 911 communications operations.
MAJOR DUTIES
Plans, manages, organizes, and directs the work of the 911 Dispatch Center.
Manages dispatch center technological resources and communications equipment.
Serves as liaison to local, county, state and federal agencies on matters related to emergency communications.
Participates in the recruitment and selection process for new personnel; directs, supervises, evaluates, and disciplines personnel.
Answers 911 emergency calls and enters information into the computer aided dispatch (CAD) system; dispatches information to appropriate agency and/or personnel.
Provides pre-arrival instructions to callers, especially for emergency medical dispatch calls.
Accurately answers and monitors multiple radio channels.
Responds to after-hours emergency calls from the dispatch center and associate agencies regarding personnel or technology issues.
Administers the computer aided dispatch software and other department computer programs; sets-up users and permissions; troubleshoots and resolves issues.
Develops and updates protocols, policies, and procedures; establishes and implements departmental operations goals and policies.
Enters, maintains, and updates records in state and national databases.
Performs related duties.
Jailer / Correctional Officer / Full Time
Up to 40 hours per week, $20-23/Hour + Shift Differential +.50 for 2nd shift, + .60 for 3rd shift, days, Weekends, holidays, evenings and night hours. Hours and shifts may vary and to be determined by employer. Will be required to attend in-house training. Jail houses both male and female inmates. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. pass state background and other checks, and have a valid DL. Must be 18 or older and have a high school diploma or higher education. Prefer experience but will train the right person.

Fulltime 911 Dispatcher
$19.62 to $22.00 per hr. depending on experience, Vacation, Sick, Personal, longevity, Health Ins., Life Ins., retirement. Must be available for all shifts including Weekends and Holidays. 8 Hour Shifts, Shift Differential .50 cents for Evenings and .60 cents for Nights. Must be 18, able to pass background check, physical and hearing tests. Within the 1st year you must spend (paid) 2 weeks in Pierre for certification.

Union County is looking for a Veteran’s Service Officer. This is professional work which involves counseling and assisting military veterans and their dependents or survivors. Work involves assisting and advising claimants in their pursuit of benefits from the US Department of Veteran’s Affairs and other agencies. Duties include studying and explaining State and Federal veteran’s legislation, regulations and procedures, consulting with medical care providers, preparing veteran’s benefit claims, and consulting with other government agencies to ensure that their clientele are receiving the maximum level of assistance and benefits to which they are entitled.
